About this job
Mälardalen university college (MDH) in Eskilstuna and Västerås is one of Sweden’s biggest university colleges with 14,000 students and 900 employees. It has a long tradition of cooperation with industry and local government, and has entering strategic agreements with both government agencies and private companies in Eskilstuna and Västerås such as Volvo, Bombardier and ABB. Most study programmes fall into four main areas: business administration, health and welfare, education, and engineering. With its research, which often involves co-production on the regional, national and global levels, MDH aims at generating useful solutions for social and economic development. In 1999, MDH was the world’s first university to acquire environmental certification, and in 2006, it was the first higher education institution in Sweden to be granted certification for its working environment.

Currently, the School of Business, Society, and Engineering is announcing a position as full professor in financial and management accounting.

Business administration is one of the major subjects at MDH with approximately 1,250 full-time students in six different educational programmes, of which one is run together with engineering. The university has had the right to grant PhD degrees since 2001. The academic staff of the business and society part of the school includes 3 full professors, 20 lecturers and 10 doctoral students. The doctoral degree programme in business administration is included in the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) degree subject, and many of the doctoral students are part of the national graduate school of Management and IT. IEM also constitutes one of six research specializations at MDH, where research focuses on business administration (accounting, international business and entrepreneurship, marketing, organisation theory and leadership), economics and political science.

The area of business administration is currently strengthening its position in both education and research, and the new professor will be responsible for developing the accounting group, and contributing to furthering a creative environment for education and research in business administration, as well as the research subject of IEM.
