Global Push…Local Pull: Mobilising and Sustaining Enterprise-wide Training Globally in ArcelorMittal.

How do you mobilise, structure, manage and sustain leadership and management training, on a global scale in a large enterprise, whilst ensuring alignment and consistency?

In 2006 Arcelor and Mittal Steel merged to form the world’s largest steel company, with a work force of 300,000 employees based in 63 countries. The creation of the new enterprise required many business units around the world to restructure and merge into one coherent enterprise with a genuinely global reach in both mature and emerging markets. This session will describe the challenges and successful implementation of an on-going global training strategy, operating under continually changing conditions in a large and complex enterprise.

In this webinar, Sapna Arora (ArcelorMittal) and Steven Pritchard (TMA World) will:
  1. Describe how training has been used as a mechanism to up skill a large geographically dispersed management population, whilst simultaneously supporting organisational alignment.
  2. Show how to establish, structure and manage a global delivery team operating in very diverse geographical and cultural environments. (The 6C’s of Global Collaboration)
  3. Illustrate the use of continuous improvement as a mechanism for ‘staying ahead of the game’ and keeping training focused on relevant issues.
  4. Demonstrate the successful migration of a corporately financed funding model for training (push), to regionally driven and funded training by local businesses (pull), whilst maintaining the ‘global brand mark’.
Time will be made available at the end of the webinar for those who have specific questions related to the Excellence in Practice Award 2012.

  • Sapna Arora, Global Training Manager, ArcelorMittal University, ArcelorMittal, LU.
  • Steven Pritchard, Director Global Accounts, TMA World, UK.
This session will be moderated by Jan Ginneberge (Associate Director, EFMD Corporate Services Unit)
