Many business schools are struggling to create an internationallearning experience for domestically recruited students. Traditionalone-term abroad arrangements frequently do not work - e.g. for cultural reasons, because students are financially constrained, because of short programme lengths or because of a part-time delivery mode.Nevertheless, business schools need to teach their students how to think beyond national borders and how to function in multi-cultural management teams. Operating within the bounds of existing constraints is often not a solution as it may just lead to cosmetic changes in the curriculum without much substance in terms of student learning.
The seminar will explore how international business schools are dealing with this issue and what solutions are likely to work for different types of programmes. The seminar speakers will present first-best practices employed by different institutions. They will also force participants to think "out of the box" to search for innovative arrangements that may work at their home institutions.
