Theme
Managing Alumni Volunteers: a key to your Success - and one of your Greatest Challenge?
Target Group
You will benefit from this workshop if you are involved in any aspect of alumni relations.
Effectively managing your volunteers for successful outcomes
Alumni volunteers can help you significantly expand the scope and impact of your alumni engagement activities, and contribute to your school in multiple ways. They give their time, talent and valuable connections to your institution. It is also well-established that volunteers are more likely to become donors to your school.
But volunteers can also seem a significant drain on your limited resources. Do you ever find yourself wondering whether it is worth the effort to coordinate your volunteers, or find that sometimes their enthusiasm and interest don’t translate to enough follow-through and action? Are you fully reaping the benefits of their contribution? Have you wondered how other schools handle that “difficult” volunteer?
This workshop will help you address the challenges in leading a globally dispersed body of volunteers to achieve improved results from your volunteer programme.
You will benefit from this workshop if you rely on alumni to contribute to your school in any of these areas:
- helping recruit high-calibre applicants
- enhancing the student experience as speakers, mentors and career advisors,
- serving as brand ambassadors and recruiters within corporations,
- speaking up as advocates for your school in rankings and accreditation processes,
- building alumni engagement as they lead alumni class, club and networks,
- contributing to the school’s leadership on Boards or Councils, and
- supporting fundraising as Reunion gift and campaign leaders.
This seminar has been designed to be highly practical and results–focused. It offers participants the opportunity to step back from a busy office and develop new insights and to refresh your knowledge with practical concepts, tools and techniques to support your volunteer management activities. It will also provide an opportunity for sharing and networking with fellow professionals facing the same daily challenges.
