Target group: deans, associate deans, those working with business school governance and strategy

The seminar will explore how and why top management can make a difference in the quality of a business school. Specifically, we will consider the impact of the following factors among others:

  • Formal role or job description of the Dean or Director
  • Leadership styles
  • Promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity from the top
  • Internal management structure: the role of the executive team
  • Business school institutional context: private vs public, independent or university-based, etc.
  • Type and style of external governance or supervision
  • External advisory bodies: role of alumni, corporate members, academic members, international members, etc.
  • Approach to strategy formulation, communication and implementation
  • Management of reputation
