Workshop Objectives
This workshop will look in detail at the revitalisation of middle management as an essential force for a company’s competitive advantage and operational success.
WHY
Raise awareness of the importance of middle managers in optimising operational results
- In large multi-divisional organisations strategic planning remains a priority, perhaps more so than ever. Nevertheless, the company’s key strategic objectives can only be achieved through a substantial strengthening of its middle management potential.
- Middle managers are perfectly positioned within the company to bridge the gap between senior management's strategic intentions and operational realities.
- Higher performance is associated with middle managers being involved in the thinking as well as the doing. On one side, middle manager involvement contributes to greater understanding of and commitment to the strategy. On the other side, the operational knowledge of middle managers leads to better decisions.
WHAT
Ensure strategic alignment, engagement and performance of middle management
- Analyse the issues of segmentation and the different roles played by middle managers
- Examine the coherence between different levels of management from the bottom up and the top down (GNF’s Unique Leadership Model)
- Compare the development strategies and learning methodologies for this target group (including on-the-job learning)
- Discuss how expectations regarding performance, leadership skills and personal development of managers can be raised across the entire middle management population
- Analyse the structural and process re-engineering required to take these performance improvements up to a strategic level across the whole company
