“Danone Leading Edge Program – A Leadership Odyssey”

How do you keep a senior management development programme inspiring, innovative and surprising over a ten year period, whilst continuing to deliver deep impact at multiple levels of the business?

Danone and London Business School have collaborated on the Leading Edge Programme since 2003, during which time over 170 executives have participated in over 100 creative encounters in 9 global cities.

Throughout this period, the team has ensured that the Programme remains relevant to Danone’s evolving strategic and organisational objectives and challenges, whilst still maintaining its unique design philosophy.

Leading Edge continues to inspire participants to look at business in a new way by broadening their horizons and re-inventing the way they do business, year-on-year.

In this session, you will learn how:

  • The programme team agreed that a courageous and innovative approach, which would ‘rock the boat’ was integral to developing and motivating Danone’s senior leaders and achieving its growth plans.  This will include a discussion on the importance of cultural alignment, senior management ownership of the initiative and Danone’s guiding principle of ‘empowering people’
  • They designed and delivered a two-module programme based on disruptive experiential learning through a series of ‘creative encounters’ across the globe, followed by personal development reviews, group reflections and the implementation of new ideas arising from the experimental activities.  The team’s commitment to continuous review and innovation will be discussed
  • Leading Edge continues to deliver deep and sustainable impact for Danone in anticipated and unexpected ways, at individual, organisational and societal levels. The discussion will include insight into a programme that delivers long term impact whilst breaking out of the model of traditional measurement and rules.

Danone & London Business School were awarded in the EFMD Excellence in Practice Award 2013 in the category ‘Executive Development’. The full case-study is available online.
