Pre-doctoral research associate position in accounting - INSEAD

About this job
We are looking for a full-time pre-doctoral graduate to work as a Research Associate (Area Researcher) on INSEAD’s France or Singapore campus to assist the Accounting faculty in conducting research.

The position would suit a recent university graduate or Master’s graduate looking to develop their research skills with a view to applying to a PhD programme. The ideal candidate will have strong data management skills, particularly software packages such as Python, SAS and Stata. Experience of social sciences research projects would be a plus.

The full-time position is for one year, with a possibility of renewal after evaluation at the end of the year.

For the Asia campus, we would consider local candidates as well as people authorized to work in Singapore.


  • Assist with quantitative research projects on the functioning of capital markets and corporate governance.
  • Brainstorm about potential research questions.
  • Extract data from different databases or company documents for analysis.
  • Data management and programming with software packages such as Stata, Matlab and Python.
  • Perform statistical data analysis, including running regressions.
  • Assist with interpretation, write-up and dissemination of findings through the preparation of journal articles and presentations

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or Business.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent programming skills that can be applied to software packages such as Python, SAS, and Stata.
  • Previous research experience and knowledge of econometrics would be a plus.
  • Excellent academic record and work ethic.
  • Keen interest in empirical research in business or economics.
  • Ambition to pursue a PhD in the future.
