Master's Program Director - Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC)

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is a global, non-profit association of 220 leading graduate business schools. GMAC owns and administers the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) exam, used by more than 6,500 graduate programs worldwide. Other GMAC assessments include the NMAT by GMAC™ exam, for entrance into graduate management programs in India and South Africa, and the Executive Assessment, specifically designed for Executive MBA programs around the world. The Council is based in Reston, Va., with offices in London, New Delhi (Gurugram) and Hong Kong.

The Market Development division is responsible for the Council’s market facing relationships and business development activities with graduate management education schools, candidates, test preparation organizations, industry alliances and other stakeholders.

GMAC is looking for a Master’s Program Director in Europe or Asia to work closely with colleagues in Market Development, Marketing and Product Management and with colleagues across markets in Americas, Europe, Middle East/Africa and Asia to expand GMAC’s reach and relevance in the pre-experienced and specialty masters market of management education.

The Master’s Program Director position will be expected to deliver results in three key areas:
  1. Developing a comprehensive strategy to increase GMAC’s relevance in the pre-experience and specialized Master’s space and working with key stakeholders, internal and external to GMAC, to deploy it.
  2. Partnering with the regions, creating the value proposition and strategy to increase use of GMAC products (the GMAT, GMASS, Research, etc.) by Master programs, partners and candidates.
  3. Providing market insights, intelligence and analyses to enhance GMAC’s understanding of the Master segment, establish GMAC as a thought leader in the space within the industry, and aid in the identification of new products, services, research and partnership opportunities to expand GMAC’s footprint within the Master’s segment of GME globally.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 12 years progressive experience, preferably in program management or business development in graduate management education or a related industry association.
  • Experience developing strategic and tactical plans and managing/leading cross-functional projects.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and across external & internal stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data and create actionable insights.
  • Strong oral communication and written skills; Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills, and cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills).
  • Ability to travel globally (approx. 15- 20% each month).
  • Ability to periodically work non-traditional work days and hours, when needed.

Desired Skills:
  • MBA, Master’s degree in Marketing or equivalent graduate management qualification.
  • Experience working with Graduate Master’s programs (preferably in Business schools).
  • Experience working with customer insights across multiple markets.
  • Experience driving projects across a matrix organization.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with sources of macroeconomic, demographic, and education industry data.
  • Proficiency at establishing and nurturing professional networks, partnerships, and alliances.
