Entrepreneurship and Management Education in Africa: Are we miseducating our students?
Deans or assistant deans, those dealing with external relations or international relations or accreditation, programme directors, business leaders, regional managers, HR professionals from companies operating in Africa
After Lisbon, Cape Town and Nairobi, EFMD is pleased to go to the western end of the continent for its next edition. Last year attendance reached over 100 participants representing Business Schools from across the globe: not only from Africa and Europe, but also the USA, Canada and Australia.
The economic growth on the African continent and the demand for local managers backs the need for raising the level of African Business Schools, which are gradually reaching international standards. More diplomas are being awarded. There is an opening on the international level. Closer ties are being made with companies.
In this context, Business Schools in Africa are increasingly interested in improving the quality of the programmes that they deliver. The third day of the Africa Conference will therefore be devoted to the EFMD quality improvement systems. It will include presentations and testimonials on the EFMD accreditation (EPAS, EQUIS) and mentoring (EDAF) schemes. Participants will receive a detailed overview of the processes and the criteria underlying these services.
Moreover, western Business Schools are showing an increased interested in Africa. Some have even opened up their own campus. There is an enormous demand for management education. Good management education is key to economic growth and social wealth.
A variety of corporate and academic speakers from the four corners of the globe will provide input and lead discussions around African Management Education.

Fees cover attendance at the meeting, documentation, meals and refreshments, but do NOT include hotel accommodation. Hotel fees are to be paid directly to the different hotels upon departure (please refer to the Hotel Information Section further down for more details).
Cancellation policy for registrations:
Cancellations must be confirmed in writing. If MOMENTUM, the EFMD Conference Secretariat receives notice of your withdrawal before 15 October 2013, a cancellation administrative fee of 75€ will be charged. Thereafter, we regret that we are unable to refund any fees. However, in such cases substitutes are welcome at no extra cost as long as EFMD receives notification of the name, title and address of the substitute.

City taxes excluded of 1.60 Euro per person per night Rates include internet, complimentary use of gym and free airport pick-up & drop-off. Reservations can be cancelled free of charge at the latest 1 week prior to arrival, late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full stay.
The hotel fee must be paid directly to the hotel upon departure. Requests for accommodation are handled on a first-come first-served basis. Participants are strongly advised to reserve their hotel room before 11 October 2013. After this date, hotel availability and rates are no longer guaranteed. Rooms are available between 12 November (earliest check-in) and 16 November 2013 (latest check-out). All other dates are upon request and subject to availability.
From the airport to the conference hotel(s):
We advise organising an airport transfer from your hotel. It is free of charge if organised through one of the conference hotels. Both hotels are about 13 kilometers or a 10-minute ride from Dakar Senghor International Airport.
If you choose to take a local taxi, it will cost about 5000 CFA (7-8€).
From the conference hotel(s) to/from the conference venue:
Bus transportation will be provided for the participants from the hotels to IAM – Institut Africain de Management during the three days of the conference.
