Massively Open Online Courses (MOOC’s) represent the beginning of a massive shift in the traditional university business model. While schools traditionally held a monopoly on great content, it is now being opened up to the rest of the world for free. EdX, a not-for-profit created by MIT and Harvard University in 2012 is one of the leading international providers of MOOCs and other online learning experiences. 2. Welcome and registration at the meetingTop
Registrations will take place at the Crowne Plaza Brussels, starting on Sunday, 9 June from 16:00 until 18:15hrs and on Monday, 10 June from 8:30hrs onwards.
An informal walking dinner will kindly be hosted by Vlerick Business School on Sunday, 9 June starting at 18:30hrs to give participants the occasion to meet and network.
The conference sessions will start on Monday, 10 June at 9:00hrs and the meeting will end on Tuesday, 11 June around 14:30 hrs.
Participants will receive all conference related material and other necessary information upon registration at the hotel.
 
3. Transportation Top
How to reach the conference venue and the hotels:
Brussels Airport is located in Zaventem, at about 15 kilometers from the city centre. To reach the Crowne Plaza “The Palace”, our conference venue, there are different possibilities:

by taxi:
A taxi from Brussels International Airport to the conference venue will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Please allow more time if you have to reach the airport during rush hour. The costs for the trip is approximately 45 EUR.

  • On Monday mornings the queue for the taxi line can be very long at the taxi stand (arrival level).
    We suggested you order your taxi in advance. For this purpose, you can contact:

by train:
The airport train station is located below the terminal (basement level -1). Up to 4 trains an hour connect the airport to Brussels North, Brussels Central and Brussels Midi Station (about 20 minutes travel time).The closest station to the conference venue is Brussels North Station (about 10 minutes walking distance).

  • Arriving in Brussels by train: If you arrive in Brussels at Brussels Midi Train Station via Eurostar, TGV, Thalys or other international trains, you can take the metro (inside the train station). Please take metro line 6 direction Simonis (Elisabeth) and get off at Rogier. The metro station Rogier is situated in 2 minutes walking distance of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, our conference venue.

PLEASE NOTE that the fees have not increased since 2000, but we are obliged by Belgian law to add 21% VAT, since the event is taking place in Belgium.

Fees cover attendance at the meeting, documentation, meals and refreshments, but NOT hotel accommodation. Indeed please note that Momentum, the EFMD Conference Secretariat, is collecting only conference fees. Hotel fees are to be paid directly to the different hotels upon departure (please refer to the Hotel Information Section further down for more details).

Cancellation Policy for fees Cancellations must be confirmed in writing. If we receive notice of your withdrawal by 6 May 2013, a cancellation administrative fee of 90,75 € (75+21%VAT) will be charged. After this date, we regret we are unable to refund any fees. However, in such cases substitutes are welcome at no extra cost, as long as EFMD receives notification of the name, title and address of the substitute.

6. AccommodationTop
Accommodation can be booked via Resotel, EFMD’s hotel agent at preferential rates and via a dedicated website.

A selection of hotels is available for attendees of the EFMD Annual Conference for the nights of 09 - 11th June 2013. All other dates are upon request and subject to hotels’ availability.
The quoted rates are in Euro, per room, per night, including breakfast & services. Payments for all room bookings are to be settled with the hotels directly upon departure. Valid credit card details must be given when making your booking request in order to guarantee and secure your reservation.

Rooms are available upon a first comes, first served bases. Initial booking deadline is set on Wednesday 08th May 2013. Late subscribers will be provided the best available rate.
