CEIBS
The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is a not-for-profit joint venture established in Shanghai, in 1994, under an agreement between the PRC Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) and the European Commission. It receives financial support from the Municipal Government of Shanghai and the European Union. Its joint venture partners are Shanghai Jiaotong University, and EFMD, the European Foundation for Management Development based in Brussels.
It builds on the experience and reputation gained in Beijing from 1984 to 93 when EFMD was in charge of CEIBS’ predecessor, the China-Europe Management Institute.
CEIBS’ main objective is to contribute to the economic development of China and its business communities. It does this by offering to MBA students, to managers and senior executives of companies operating, or planning to enter China, the latest knowledge and a thorough understanding of current concepts and practices in international management, helping participants to adapt them successfully to their own business environment.
At the turn of this millennium, CEIBS is particularly well positioned to confirm its leadership in China, in state-of-the-art, practice-oriented international management education, and to become one of the top business schools in Asia.
The School has just completed ten years of rapid, uninterrupted and successful growth. Its new campus facilities in Pudong, Shanghai, are second to none and are providing the students, programme participants and professors with an exceptional learning environment.
CEIBS will increase the size of its core faculty and further enhance its research output, while continuing to attract distinguished professors from leading business schools.
CEIBS currently offers two degree programmes, i.e.:
While open executive programmes are used for the development of individuals, "company-specific programmes" are considered a highly effective tool in support of organisational transformation and development. The main advantage of such programmes is that they can be designed taking into account the company’s specific circumstances, needs and priorities.
CEIBS is supported by a number of the most reputable and successful corporations operating in China, both Chinese and foreign. As sponsor companies, they provide financial support and advice (through the Corporate Advisory Board). They are also a source of internships and group consultancy projects for CEIBS students. Financial support is given in the forms of regular annual donations, endowed chairs, funded professorships, scholarships and research grants. Some 50 companies are currently sponsoring CEIBS.

- An 18-month full time MBA programme in English for bright, well-educated, determined young women and men with 3 to 5 years professional experience in addition to a good university degree. The current class counts 123 participants. This is the largest and longest full time MBA programme in China.
- A 2-year part time Executive MBA programme designed for middle to senior managers. It comprises twenty-two four-day weekend modules on campus complemented by four practice-oriented projects. There are two classes, one in Shanghai with 150 participants, and the other in Beijing with 100 participants.
