09:00 – 09:15

Welcome and Introduction

09:15 – 10:15

Session 1: Increasing alumni engagement and supporting your community online
Where do online communities and online services fit into your engagement strategy? Online platforms, services and groups are not an end in their own right, but tools which enable you to strengthen alumni relationships with your business school. We’ll start the day’s discussion with a strategic view of ‘digital alumni relations’ and explore the benefits and challenges of the different approaches adopted by various business schools. How do you calibrate your expectations around usage and active participation, and what are the most meaningful measures of impact and success?

  • Sarah Seedsman, Executive Director, Engagement, Insights & Consulting (Media Minds Global); formerly Director, Alumni Relations at London Business School and Associate Dean, External Relations, Melbourne Business School

10:15 – 10:45

Working Groups: Sharing your priorities for improving your online engagement strategy, and your key challenges

10:45 – 11:00

Coffee break

11:00 – 12:30

Session 2: What do your alumni need online and what do they value from their business school?

A panel discussion facilitated by Sarah Seedsman with Mary Priddey, Head of Alumni Relations at Cambridge Judge Business School and Viola Polakowska, Head of Alumni Relations at Said Business School, University of Oxford, (from 10 September 2018) (currently Head of Alumni Relations, City, University of London)
How do you deliver real benefits to alumni through private community platforms or private alumni groups, rather than just offering a list of features available? How do you design a satisfying online experience that not only attracts alumni to your online groups or platform, but convinces them it is worth returning? Share experiences, challenges and successes in this panel discussion.

12:30 – 13:15

Working Groups: Moving from features to benefits: mapping what really delivers value to your alumni

13:15 – 14:30

Lunch

14:30 - 15:30

Session 3: From raising awareness to stimulating engagement: developing an effective marketing plan for your online community and services

Panel discussion moderated by Sarah Seedsman, with Mary Priddey and Viola Polakowska.
Your alumni are busy professionals and you are competing for their attention. Promoting your digital services and networks isn’t something you just do once when you launch something new, but needs to be an ongoing focus. We look at how to integrate this into your communications plan and discuss tips and techniques to improve effectiveness.

15:30 – 16:15

Working Groups: Developing your online community priorities for 2019 and beyond; resourcing and supporting your online community; encouraging and enabling online community leaders & volunteers
