Learning for people at work has been defined as a mix of on-the-job experience, planned exposure to new challenges and traditional education designed to accelerate personal and professional development. The three Es extend from totally informal and mostly non-directed learning in the workplace to highly formal classroom-oriented programmes. The risk is, however, that the three learning modes may not be aligned with each other in a coherent organisational learning strategy.

  • In what sense can informal learning be structured?
  • How can informal learning be geared to a strategic purpose within the company?
  • What are the respective roles of the different actors in the learning continuum: HR people development specialists, line managers, OD experts, L&D staff?
  • What is the role of social media and communities of practice?
  • What is the impact of this broad-spectrum approach to learning on the provision of formal programmes?

This workshop, which will be held at UniCredit’s state-of-the-art learning centre in central Torino, will focus on how to optimise the total learning effect within a company by managing these three dimensions in conjunction with each other. They must not be seen as separate, independent learning modes, but as interdependent, related modes that must be brought together simultaneously within an overall development plan. In particular, the informal learning dimension must be structured and directed not just towards individual development but also towards explicitly defined organisational ends. At the other end of the spectrum, formal “education” must reinforce the objectives being pursued in the informal learning space.

The workshop will look at the practicalities of implementing this holistic approach to organisational learning.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be confirmed in writing. If we receive notice of your withdrawal by March 11, 2014, a cancellation administrative fee of 75€ (+21% VAT) will be charged. After this date, we regret we are unable to refund any fees. However, in such cases substitutes are welcome at no extra cost, as long as we receive notification of the name, title and address of the substitute.

    Follow the blue path on the map. It takes 10 minutes by foot or you can call a taxi: +39 011 5737. 

  • If you arrive in Torino Caselle airport: take the shuttle to Porta Nuova. It takes about 40 minutes.
    If you call a taxi (+39 011 5737), it costs around 35 euros and it takes about 30 minutes.

  • If you arrive in Malpensa airport: take the shuttle to Torino city center (C.so V. Emanuele II, 131/H) and then call a taxi (+39 011 5737) or catch bus 55. It takes two hours. Look up the timetable at: http://www.sadem.it/
